CHALLENGES

Today NWAB is beginning to confront transformation in the environment within which it operates. These changes have significant implications on the association.
Through CEDAW, Bhutan is committed to ensuring that all forms of discriminations against women are eliminated.

The pattern of mainstream development risks exclusion of disadvantaged women in the progress and development program. The poor capacity of disadvantaged women excludes them from being beneficiaries of development. The gap is widening.
With the passage of the NGO act by the National Assembly, several NGOs and Associations have taken birth. Some of these NGOs share similar directions and objectives with the NWAB. Many more similar NGOs will come into existence. NWAB, therefore, needs to redirect, refocus and sharpen its direction and intent and strike alliances with others.

While the changes in the environment have entailed greater responsibility and scope of roles the resource constraint acts as a significant hurdle towards fulfilling the NWAB’s mandate. NWAB should more than ever before innovate, create and mobilize resources to implement its numerous programs and activities.
NWAB needs to reflect, revisit and restructure its direction, operations and systems. Through strategic planning process, NWAB should create a refocused direction and purpose, revisit its program and activities, reengineer its processes and restructure the Management systems and organization.
