SOURCES OF FUNDS
The Royal Government funded NWAB activities from 1985 to 1993. After it was granted an NGO status, the association has mobilized its own funds, mainly from external agencies like the UNDP, DANIDA, ACB, UNICEF, RAVAC, Australian High Commission (AHC), FAO and SDS. South Asisa Enterprise Development Facility (SEDF) provides funding for poverty alleviation projects targeting under-privileged women.
As almost all the funds mobilized from external sources are project-specific, the expenditures involved in running the NWAB secretariat in Thimphu are supported through the income generated by the National Handicrafts Emporium. The fund for smaller activities carried out mostly at the district levels, such as providing education for disadvantaged children, is raised through internal fund raisers such as raffles, fetes, individual donations and jumble sales.
